The regulations on fire prevention and fighting for these works have been promulgated by the state. Among them are regulations on fire doors and fire doors to prevent fires effectively.

The regulations about fireproof doors you need to know:

In our country, there are many laws related to fire prevention that investors need to know, in which, the regulation TCVN 6160:1996 on Fire prevention and fighting design requirements in very high-rise buildings are respected before the project goes into operation. This standard presents mandatory standards that offices, apartments, and high-rise buildings must meet.

Fire doors must be inspected according to Vietnam's current regulations, issued by the Fire Department or issued by authorized agencies.

According to the provisions of Section 5.2 of TCVN 6160:1996, the minimum fire resistance limit of fire-preventing parts is specified as follows:

- Windows and gates in fire-blocking walls must be made of non-combustible materials and have a fire-resistance limit of not less than 45 minutes;

- Fire partitions must be made of non-combustible materials and have a fire-resistance limit of not less than 45 minutes;

- Doors and windows in fire partitions; fire doors to basements and roofs; the door to the roof must be made of non-combustible materials and have a fire-resistance limit of not less than 40 minutes;

- Doors in stairwells, technical rooms, and basements also need to be fireproof doors. They need to have an automatic closing mechanism and be able to withstand a fire for 45 minutes or more.

Also according to the regulations, fire doors that reach the fire resistance limit of 60 minutes will have the structure not destroyed when subjected to a temperature of about 1,000 degrees Celsius. The temperature will be gradually increased and reach the maximum threshold of about 1,000 degrees Celsius in 60 minutes. Meanwhile, the door surface that is not directly exposed to fire must not exceed the threshold of 220 degrees Celsius.

Some general safety requirements of fireproof steel doors

Doors must meet basic requirements, no matter how long they are heat and fire-resistant, they must be based on the following general requirements:

- The door uses cold rolled steel 0.8mm-1.2mm, blade thickness 50mm - 70mm;

- The cover frame uses 1.6mm thick hot rolled steel. Frame thickness 100mm – 110mm;

- Door core uses magnesium oxide fireproof material;

- Rubber gasket to prevent smoke, when closed, it will be tight and gentle;

- Hydraulic retractable handle keeps the door in the closed position.

If any one of the above factors is missing, the door will not meet fire resistance standards or ensure safety in construction design.

Why should buildings use fire doors?

Due to the characteristics of buildings such as apartments, commercial centers, or office buildings, they all have large areas of use, a large number of people, complex uses, a concentration of flammable substances, and many systems. technical equipment system, the risk of fire is high.

Therefore, when an incident occurs, the area that many people turn to is the escape route (or exit area) to the safest place. Therefore, fire doors are mainly installed in the exit area to ensure the safest way for people to escape.

On the other hand, this exit is also the place separating the floors from each other. If there is a problem on one floor, fire and smoke will quickly cover the whole area if there are no fire doors.

Depending on the structure of the building, it is possible to choose a door with a high or low level of fire resistance. Because the higher the house, the longer the escape route, the longer the escape time, the higher the risk of fire threatening human life.

But in particular, the location of the fire door is extremely important. It affects which type of fireproof door you should choose to be able to promote the fireproof feature of the door.
